All of our classes at Alchemy Yoga are breathing experiences and each class, in its own way, will help you use the power of your breath to master the reactions of your mind. No prior experience is needed for any of our classes and all of the classes we offer are modifiable. The class that is best for you depends on your individual preferences (heated or unheated, medium pace or slow pace, etc).
The heat (or lack of heat) for each class is listed under class details and you’ll find a temperature range for each class under Class Descriptions. Our heated classes range from moderate (80-85) to high heat (90-95).
Hot yoga is a form of yoga as exercise performed under hot and humid conditions, resulting in considerable sweating. Some hot yoga practices seek to replicate the heat and humidity of India, where yoga originated. It has been suggested that the heated environment of yoga helps to prepare the body for movement and to "remove impurities". Some benefits of the heat include: increased flexibility, improved circulation, lymphatic drainage, reduced risk of injury and overall improved well-being.
Yes! We offer Yin Yoga which is unheated and set at room temperature (75 degrees) to best assist the body in stretching. In addition we offer Journey, a slower pace Hatha-style practice that is lightly heated at 80 degrees.
All of our classes are 60 minutes unless otherwise noted.
At Alchemy Yoga we offer a wide variety of yoga classes- everything from HIIT yoga and yoga sculpt to Ashtanga Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. Check out the Hybrid Yoga Class Description page to find more information on the 3 types of hybrid yoga classes we offer. You’ll find the rest of our 5 yoga offerings on the Yoga Class Description page.
It’s a good idea to take a variety of classes so that you can see what you like best. If you’re looking for certain factors like heat, equipment or pace of class, you’ll find all of those details under each class’ description.
There is no one size fits all as everyone is different; but as with anything, consistency and dedication make all the difference. It all depends on what you are looking for as an individual. Any time you practice yoga you are giving your body a gift. Two to three times a week will provide you with a transformation over time. However, for life changing results, it is recommended to practice four to six times a week on a consistent basis.
Many doctors recommend yoga during pregnancy. That being said, it's important you consult your doctor first and find out what's best for you and your pregnancy. If you get the green light, just give your instructor a heads-up before class. Although most poses are safe for most pregnant women, some may require slight modifications. The most important thing is to honor your body and how you are feeling that day.
